Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know when I need a new roof?

An interior leak or ceiling stain would be the first immediate sign that you may need a new roof.  If you find shingles or pieces of shingles in your yard when walking around your house, that could mean that your roof has been compromised by wind damage.

Will my insurance company help me pay for a new roof?

This depends on the extent of damage and proper representation.  Hail damage may constitute monetary assistance on replacing a roof but it is rarely seen from the ground.  This is why proper representation is crucial.  Our Claims Specialist can come out and access your roof and help you determine your options.

How do I know if my roof is properly ventilated?

Improper ventilation can cause heat pockets, which may accelerate the deterioration of the shingles. Shingles will start to lose their grit/surface coating, causing color loss. The shingles will start to curl at the edges. Proper ventilation depends on the size of the roof and the design. To prolong the life of the shingles, always have a roofing expert make recommendations according to your specific roof system.

How long will a new roof last?

Asphalt shingle manufacturers usually have 20-30 year shingles.  Proper ventilation as mentioned above can help extend the life of the shingle.  Most shingle manufacturers offer limited lifetime warranties with the option to purchase extended warranties.  Many roofs need to be replaced before the 20+ year mark in Tennessee due to the extreme temps and improper ventilation or storm damage.
